TheTinkProphecy 0 Posted September 22, 2004 Ok, I'm new here and I have no idea if this is where I put my problem, so please work with me. I'm running Windows 98 from my home, and I just bought the Sims 2 game. When I tried to install it, it said that I needed to upgrade to DirectX 9.0 and asked if I'd like to install it from the game. When I clicked YES, it gave me a bunch of bull about being unable to do it from the game and to get 9.0 from Microsoft. So I went to Microsoft and downloaded 9.0. When I went to install the 9.0, it told me that one of the Cabinet files could not be trusted, and the installation failed. Can anyone tell me what I can do about this? I've tried reinstalling it about 10 times already and I'm getting frustrated. I have no idea what else to do. If anyone can help I'll be ever so grateful! Thanks, ~*~TINK~*~ Share this post Link to post
DS3Circuit 0 Posted September 22, 2004 Just a couple of things to square away 1. Are you downloading the full install? If not I would suggest using http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...;displaylang=en 2. Is your 98 Machine fully patched and updated? 3. Is your AV off during this install? 4. On a lesser note, are your video drivers updated? Ping us back. Share this post Link to post

Is your 98 Machine fully patched and updated? It's supposed to be. How do I make sure if it is? 3. Is your AV off during this install? What's my AV and how do I turn it off? If you can't tell, I don't know much about computers. 4. On a lesser note, are your video drivers updated? Video drivers should be updated. Share this post Link to post

tennisprincess15 0 Posted September 26, 2004 I am running windows XP and I am having the same problems. I have no anti-virus programs and everything is updated. Is it my computer, or is there really something wrong with Direct X 9.0? Share this post Link to post
mrquixotic 0 Posted September 29, 2004 I've had problems with DirectX too, and i realised that it was because i updated it with a driver too advanced for it, meaning my directX itself was old and i tried to use a new driver downloaded from the internet for it, thus causing the problem. Check yours. Share this post Link to post
