dillinger4 0 Posted October 8, 2004 My computer shut off on me randomly yesterday. When I tried to start it back up it gave me a BSOD error. stop 0x00000024 ntfs_file_system. I've tried re-installing windows from my win2k cd, but nothing even happens it doesn't install it just gives me the bsod error. I can't run any files off the cd. I installed win2k on my old 2gig harddrive and i had to completely unplug the newer one. Even booting from the old one with the new one plugged in gave me the bsod error. I've heard if you can run a chkdsk from dos it can fix it but I don't know how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Share this post Link to post
peterh 1 Posted October 14, 2004 Boot off the Windows CD, select option to Install then Repair using Recovery Console, then you get a command prompt which you can use to diagnose and repair the system.
