sweetpotatoes14 0 Posted October 24, 2004 HELP ME! I just got the sims 2 for my computer, I'm 13, and I dont know much stuff about computers, it installed perfectly, but it won't run. I went to the technical support thing in it and it said i might not have the compatible driver, it seems pretty old, but I'm not sure if it's the most recent, and where to get the most recent.... here is the info that came up under display in DXDIAG- Device Name: Graphics Blaster RIVA 128ZX Manufacturer: Creative Labs Chip type: n/a DAC type:n/a Approx. Total Memory: 8.0 mb Current display mode: 1152 x 864 (16 bit( (optimal refresh rate) monitor: Visual sensations Vs-7i Drivers Main Driver: nv3disp.drv Version: 4.10.0001.0272 Date:08/20/1998 02:14:40 WHQL Logo'd: yes Mini VDD: nv3.vxd VDD: *vdd DDI version: 6 everything is enabled, and in the notes it says- Hardware accelerated Direct3D 9+ is not available because the display driver does not support it. You may be able to get a newer driver from the hardware manufacturer. i don't know where to get the compatible driver, i went to the creative labs web-site, but it didn't tell me much, and it wouldn't let me click on some of the links PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!!!! sweetpotatoes14 0 Posted October 25, 2004 aorry about that, i know it takes a while, but i was just frustrated, well, it didn't work, and i had to go to sleep, i installed the update to the Graphics Blaster RIVA 128ZX at creativelabs.com, then i clicked on the sims 2 and it still said i needed a recent graphics adapter, then i went to DXDIAG and it never updated, HELP.....AGAIN!!! adamvjackson 0 Posted October 25, 2004 The ATI Riva 128 (that's the chipset the the Creative card uses) seems to be too old for Sims 2 then. Sims 2 is a fairly demanding game, needing a fast computer, and equally important, a fast video card. Sorry, but it seems like you'll have to shell out for a new video card. stylgar 0 Posted December 29, 2004 First of all, excuse my bad english. Now be patient, a friend mine has got the same problem, the system requirements are extremely high than he has. But he only need to purchase 256 MB of RAM (he had 64 only) and must change the display adapter (he had a Riva TNT2 and tried with a Geforce FX 5200 and it doesn't work (same message than your one)). Also tomorrow we try to play installing an ATI Radeon 9250, that's the model of the display adapter that my girlfriend is using and it works!, but the system is already a few newer than my friend's system. I could tell you tomorrow what happens with the Radeon 9250. The rest of config is: Pentium III at 800Mhz Initially 64 Mb SDRAM PC133 actually 256 Mb Integrated sound card 10 Gb Hard disk ultra ata 33 cd rom 52x Nvidia Riva TNT2 (not works with SIMS2) Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 (not works with SIMS2) ATI radeon 9250 (working in an athlon 1600+ with 256 Mb DDR266Mhz and Abit KG7-Raid with Creative SoundBlaster Live! 1024) See you later. Note: I found your topic surfing the web searching for a complete list a graphic cards compatible with Directx 9.0c. Share this post Link to post
