SlaveDog 0 Posted February 10, 2000 Hi All, I just installed Win2K on my dual P3 system. I am having a hard time verifying that Win2K is actually detecting and using the two processors. I found in system info that two identical processors are showing, is this it? Is there any other way to tell? Also, are there any tweaks or things I can do with SMP? Thanks -SlaveDog Share this post Link to post
GPSnoopy 0 Posted February 10, 2000 Use the Task Manager (tskmgr.exe or something), you can access it byt pressing CTRL+ALT+Del. It will show you the usage of both CPUs and you'll be able to manage the Dual Processing as you want. For example you can put one app. on one CPU and another on the other CPU so on... SlaveDog 0 Posted February 11, 2000 Ok Thanks, I saw the two windows so I guess one for each CPU. Is there a way to set up a sytem monitor type thing with CPU usage and memory and make it a little window like you can in Win 98? Also, does Win2K auto assign CPU usage between the 2 CPU's by default? Thanks Share this post Link to post
YuppieScum 0 Posted February 11, 2000 The OS manages thread->CPU assignment so you don't need to worry about it. Take a look at www.winfiles.com for tools to show you the info you want...unless you use the provided Performance Monitor. ------------------ SuperMicro P6DBS (dual UW-SCSI) BIOS 2.2, 2*Celery 300a @ 450Mhz, 384MB PC100 RAM SCSI-A=4.3Gb+9Gb, SCSI-B=Tosh32x CD-ROM, Yamaha4416 CD-RW, Iomega ZIP100, IDE1=4.3Gb IBM EtherJet 10/100 NIC PCI + Nortel ADSL "modem" CL TNT1 AGP + Quantum3D Voodoo2 SLI PCI SoundBlaster Live PCI (not Value) Win2K build 2195 Retail (no 120-day eval) Share this post Link to post
