skulz 0 Posted November 16, 2004 I have recently re-installed windows XP on my laptop and I have been having some issues, most of which I've fixed, but I cannot figure out my USB's. I have a 300GB external hard drive and it is pluged in through a usb port. It now tells me that i have a high-speed device plugged into a low speed USB hub. This never happend before the re-install. There is a big difference in the speed between the two now as well. Is this a drivers problem...please help. Share this post Link to post
jmmijo 1 Posted November 16, 2004 Yes, this looks to be a device drivers issue. If your notebook is based on one of the more popular chipsets, then please check out the correct website and d/l the latest INF/Chipset drivers and/or USB drivers. Intel Via SiS ALi You can also check out the notebook manufacturers website for updated drivers, however they don't always have the very latest versions Since you've re-installed XP, make sure you have at least SP1 installed. That seems to be a bug in Windows XP, since my father's USB TV Tuner (Pinnacle) is sometimes having that problem too. It was reported on support.microsoft.com once, but I can't find it anymore. It had something to do with the EHCI drivers. Share this post Link to post
