phat_bhat 0 Posted December 3, 2004 I have a HI-VAL (also called IO Magic) 4x Dual Format DVD +/- RW +/- R drive. It says MagicSpin on the actual drive and the model number is DVDRW 1004IM. The drive is detected in the BIOS and by Windows XP and is installed properly. But when you put a DVD or CD in the drive, nothing shows up in Windows Explorer when trying to browse the drive. When attempting to write a CD/DVD, it says to insert media when media ia already in the drive. This has happened in two different computers. I cannot find any support or firmware upgrades for this drive. Anyone have any idea how to fix this or is the drive shot? It is brand new out of the box. Thanks in advance!
