iamroot 0 Posted December 4, 2004 I downloaded the NVIDIA v.6629 drivers and installed it but before the installation proceeded, a msg appeared ( module license nvidia taints kernel). But after the msg, the installation proceeded smoothly so i didnt think too much abt it but then, after using FC2 a few times, everything fouled up. Gnome and KDE both crashed and i couldnt even boot up into the GUI. I uninstalled the 6629 driver and tried the older versions out but the same msg appeared. Somebody got this b4? danleff 0 Posted December 4, 2004 Did you boot into a console (non-gui environment) before installing the drivers by editing the /etc/inittab file and rebooting? What lines did you change in the X config file? Share this post Link to post
iamroot 0 Posted December 4, 2004 I went into runlevel 3, disabled X. I took out "load dri" and left in "load glx". Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted December 5, 2004 And you did the following? If you already have an X config file working with a different driver (such as the 'nv' or 'vesa' driver), then all you need to do is find the relevant Device section and replace the line: Driver "nv" or Driver "vesa" with Driver "nvidia" Share this post Link to post
