TinyHeathen75 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Right now I am testing Windows 98 SE on a machine that has proven to be rather problematic since I got it. The Video card and onboard LAN insist on sharing IRQs,and this leads to a problem in wich the monitor goes blank for a moment, it does this a few times and then the entire computer locks up. First I had W2K on it and after going rounds with it(and losing) I gave up and decided to see if I could use 98SE to solve my problem. Well with 98SE it is possible to set IRQs unlike in W2K, but whenever I manually set IRQs it will not boot past the Win98 screen. I have already added the memory info to the VCache section of the system.ini file(am running 1 gig of RAM). My question is, do certian memory-I/O ranges go with certian IRQs? I remember reading somewhere that Win98 is good about not booting past the Win98 splash screen on startup if there is memory issues.
