AndyFair 0 Posted January 4, 2005 Are all sticks the same type (speed, CAS timings etc)? This may cause problems. Easiest way to see which stick is causing the problems is to install each stick one at a time then run memtest86 and see if it finds any errors. That way you can see whether one of the sticks is faulty or not. If none of them have errors, it looks as though you may be using incompatible types. Let us know how you get on. jmmijo 1 Posted January 4, 2005 This is usually an issue when you have mis-matched memory sticks for sure Here's the thing, even if you purchased an equivelent stick of PC3200/DDR400, you may find that one stick has a CL of 3 and the other a CL of 2.5 and of course this is a mis-match. But here's the thing even if both sticks have the same CL rating, they most likely will not work together because the manufacturer is not the same and/or the memory cells themselves are not the same, i.e., one stick has memory cells made by Hynix and the other by Micron etc.... You should only purchase matched pairs of memory sticks for *all* dual-channel boards. The only other thing you can try out is to stick one of these into DIMM slot 1-A(Channel 1, Slot A) and the other into DIMM slot 2-A(Channel 2, Slot A). This will place the motherboard into single-channel mode and should work. Share this post Link to post
