installing mandrake 10.1 problems

hi just started looking at linux so no next to nothing abiut it.

i have just got myself a new laptop -3200+ 54bit athlon

-1024 ddr ram

-ati 9700 128 ddr

-dvd writer

 

if any of that helps its a clevo/starnote d470k with 17inch wide screen model

 

but when i try to install mandrake it loads program into memory and detects dvd etc then goes through the sort little text boot thing but just before it gets to the "pretty" install sreen is goes blank and at bottom says

 

processing...

 

and just sit theres for ever!!!!

i can type but nothing happens!!!!

 

can you help me please !!!????

Where did you get the dvd iso image?
