Mel 0 Posted January 30, 2005 If you have a HP multifunction device (ie scanner/printer/copier) Do not try to install a scanner,it won't work. HPIJS scanner driver is built into the printer driver. Just configure your hpijs printer and scanner will be set up with it. Do not use the normal tools (harddrake, yast, etc) to check for the scanner. They will say it isn't there. Try scanning with a program like The Gimp or xsane. If you use xsane, the image screen may just have a line down the center. That's OK,just a glitch in xsane. When you scan from your image editor, the image will be just fine. If it doesn't work, shut down and do a cold boot.If it still doesn't work then you need someone smarter than me. BTW,Danleff, the linmodem driver that comes with SUSE 9.1 is for Archtek Telecom's SmartLink modems. Share this post Link to post
matttah 0 Posted January 30, 2005 I have a psc 2110xi, it runs on the hpijs drivers, but if i try to use the hpijs driver for the scanning it is never found via xsane or anything...instead i use the hpoj driver and scanning works better than perfect=p. How do you get xsane to recognize the hpijs drivers? Daum Share this post Link to post
Mel 0 Posted January 31, 2005 I don't think it does.I believe Hpoj and hpijs are both primarily printer drivers.Hpijs sets up scanner as hpoj. With some distros,if you set up your printer with hpijs, you may have to unremark hpoj in your sane or saned config file.I only had that happen once. I use Mandrake 10 for photos and it sets up Psc2210 with no problem. Setting up with hpijs seems to make the printer work better but I don't see any difference on the scanner.I use a psc 2210 and an r60.Both work great.I just setup printer and scanner works ,too.
