skud2121 0 Posted February 17, 2005 Just got the 2840 and was able to transfer a few files onto the device. Shortly there after everything locked up, computer and all. Now when the device is turned on without being hooked to the PC, it pauses at the RCA boot up screen for about five minutes and then flashes a warning about missing sys files. When hook to the PC via the USB cable, the device turns on properly and goes to the "HI-Speed capable . . ." screen. But I can not edit, delete, add or do anything to the unit. I have tried the reset button. Ihave tried formatting using XP as well as H2Forma, and still nothing. Have I wasted $200? Customer services is no help. Is there any one out there who might have an idea? Share this post Link to post

nosmada 0 Posted March 6, 2006 You can go to rca.com and go through their support pages to get to the rca lyra 2840 page and download the firmware upgrade, I believe that is the one I used. Here is a direct link to the firmware upgrade: http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/Cultures/en-US/FirmwareUpgrade161 It will install the files you need. Your computer must have deleted the files. There are two folders that are on your lyra when you first get it, they are: lyrahdd_playlists and lyra_sys. The later is the one that is important it has all the information for the device to run. If that doesn't work just e-mail me and I can send you the two folders from mine, it should work. nosmada@gmail.com Share this post Link to post
