markwarren 0 Posted February 22, 2005 HI, This is not the standard 'How do I get DOS to run full screen under XP' type of question. I have two DOS applications - DataEase and Foxbase that I have managed to get running 'full screen' under XP. However, they only fill the top half of the screen i.e. the bottom of the screen is simply black. I can see all of the program in the top half of the screen but wondered if anybody knows how to make them fill the screen. I have been into properties and set full screen, Windows 95 compatability, 640 x 480 etc etc but they only ever fill the top half of the screen. I have tried this on 3 different systems but get the same problem. Any help would be really appreciated as it is now officially driving me nuts. Regards Mark Share this post Link to post
markwarren 0 Posted February 22, 2005 APK, Man I owe you one. Put the MODE CON LINES=25 into a batch file and that then runs the DatEase program. Works a treat. Thank you so much for the reply. All the best. Mark Share this post Link to post
markwarren 0 Posted February 22, 2005 Me again, Just realised your name is Alec - sorry for that. Also have realised that APK may be one of the the many acronyms used by this industry and not your initials !!! Thanks again Alec. Share this post Link to post
markwarren 0 Posted February 23, 2005 Its me yet again. Just a follow up on progress. Having tested the above fix on my laptop evertything was great. On trying the fix on my mate's machine no luck - still got the half screen thing So in a way of proving what it was, I tried the fix on my desktop PC - no luck. I have, howeveer, noticed that my mate's PC and my desktop PC both have ATI Radeon cards in them (not the same model), but my laptop has a Nvidia GeForce card in it. So the graphics card may be causing the problem (or at least stopping the fix from working). I am going to ask my PC dealer to lend me a GeForce card for testing and I will post how I go on. All the best Mark Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted February 24, 2005 What types of video modes do these programs use? Do they require windowed mode or full screen? I noticed you said you ran them full screen but can they be run windowed? If they require full screen then you may want to try this program which was developed and discussed in this thread: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=1659&highlight=vgafix The author has the latest download here: http://www.nomissoft.com/cgi-bin/ax.cgi?http://www.nomissoft.com/files/winxpfix.zip There's another similar utility here: http://www.volny.cz/martin.sulak/ Share this post Link to post
