geforce 4mx series?

Recommended Posts

hi, i just bought a geforce 4mx series video card... and i know im gonna sound stupid for asking this but... what type of slot does it need? agp right? it doesnt fit into what i think are the pci slots of my computer (where you can put internet cards, etc). i have an e-machines T1440 with the original motherboard. so i guess im asking is:

1) does my computer even have an agp slot? if so is it already being used by something that came with the computer?

2) does this particular video card need a slot i dont know about?

or a combo of the above.

im starting to get worried that i wont be able to install my card into the computer.... any help?

The Geforce 4 MX comes in AGP/PCI forms.

You said it doesn't fit into your PCI slots so it must be AGP.

I can't find out the specs of that motherboard right now but it probably uses integrated AGP and doesn't offer an AGP slot. If so then you'll have to use PCI.

To identify your card:

Look at the part of the card that plugs into your computer.

The AGP connector will have two notches in it less than a finger width apart from each other.

The PCI connector will have one notch on the right of the connector.

The AGP connector (Don't count the green part of the connector if it's there in the size) will also be smaller than the PCI slot.
