Invmaniac 0 Posted April 18, 2005 I got the compatibilty program from microsoft, but I honestly have no clue what to do next? I have looked around in the programs that installed from the compatibilty program, but cant make heads or tails of them. Any help would be appreciated. Alex Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted April 18, 2005 What's the problem with the game? You probably don't need the ACT, if the game say's that it requires Windows 9x then simply create a shortcut to the game executable, right-click on the shortcut, go to properties and choose "Win95 compatibility mode" then run the game. Invmaniac 0 Posted April 18, 2005 The problem is when I go to install it, it says not NT compatible, then stops the install. Share this post Link to post
Invmaniac 0 Posted April 20, 2005 Anyone? Please? Or should I install 98se as a dual boot? (which I would rather not do. Alex Share this post Link to post
Wilhelmus 1 Posted April 20, 2005 Create a shortcut to the install executable, right-click on the shortcut, go to properties and choose "Win95/98/Me compatibility mode" then try to run it. Share this post Link to post
Invmaniac 0 Posted April 21, 2005 OK, I tried this, but, I dont get the option to run compatibility modes. I did install all of apcompat or what ever it is called. I have win2k, sp4. Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted April 21, 2005 Nah, The ACT has nothing to do with it. The ACT just allows you to add more to the compatibility database. It doesn't actually add the capability to the OS. The capability is already there. From the Run command type in : regsvr32 c:\winnt\apppatch\slayerui.dll That will enable compatibily mode only on SHORTCUTS. So whenever you need to apply compatibility mode remember to create a shortcut. Share this post Link to post
Invmaniac 0 Posted April 21, 2005 Thanks, that brought the option around. But, still doesnt work. Starts the install and say it isnt NT compatible. Guess Im not going to be able to run this program? Alex Share this post Link to post
Invmaniac 0 Posted April 21, 2005 spoke to fast. i tried the setup file inside the disk's folder and dragged a shortcut to my desktop. This time when I ran compatibility it worked just fine. Thanks Alex Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted April 21, 2005 Unfortunately I don't have the game so can't test it myself. If you feel comfortable playing around with Installshield editors to remove the OS requirement then that is what I would or, or look for an installshield extractor that will unpack file files..... Wait a sec...There's an APCOMPAT tool in the SUPPORT directory on your 2000 CD. Try that. Share this post Link to post
Invmaniac 0 Posted April 21, 2005 Actually, it works now. I know everyone has said it is impossible, but I was just flying the sim on win2k. I tried the compatibility on the shortcut for the game, but it crashed, and didnt work, i then turn the compatibility off and ran the patch (which doesnt fix anything for 2k). and the program ran fine. Thanks for all of your help. Alex Share this post Link to post
