direct x9.0c please read

as many people on these forums, i am having the trouble where if i try to install 9.0c it tells me it is installed but it is not, i have tried most of the solutions on here, except from reinstalling sp2, because everytime i run automatic updates, an update downloads that causes my computer to keep restarting, can anyone help please and let me know if theres another way of downloading sp2.

please reply!!! ive just spent 50 quid on nfsunderground 2 and sims 2 and they both need 9.0c so i need help so i can play them!!

1)

1.Open System in Control Panel.

2.On the Hardware tab, click Driver Signing.

3.Under File signature verification, click:

"Ignore" to allow all device drivers to be installed on this computer, regardless of whether they have a digital signature.

Try the Methods 1-5 on Resolution.

just for a little more info about the problem, when i try to launch sims 2 it says failed to initialise direct 3d, please make sure direct x9.0c has been installed on this system.

What version of DirectX does Windows say you have now?

 

Start/run then type in box dxdiag

 

Sometimes direct3d will not run right if you are using something to force monitor refresh rates.
