greg@ 0 Posted June 5, 2005 As you can see I am total linux newbie. I just started to install the latest Fedora FC DVD download version. Looking at this forum for help for my WLAN configuration (Netgear 311T with madwifi drivers) I found out that I have to update my kernel (2.6.9-1.667). I looked to http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/3/i386 and wondered, which kernel to use. i586 or i686? Is there a special kernel for athlons? When I use uname -p I get just athlon. Greg Share this post Link to post
greg@ 0 Posted June 5, 2005 Found the solution: i386 > Pentium 1/AMD Klasse i586 > Pentium 2/Pentium Pro and higher i686 > P4 /Athlon XP and higher uname -a helps a lot Greg Share this post Link to post
