Theophile 0 Posted February 15, 2003 I've found very limited information about this online, only that it seems to be the only Mobility Radeon chip that is not supported at all. I don't know what progress has been made and I don't know if this chip has other names. Is this the same this as the Mobility Radeon IGP chips or is it different? Any ideas here? I have a Compaq Presario 2105US that I need to get acceleration working on. Any help appreciated. Thanks! Share this post Link to post

If I comment out the Option "noaccel" line, X starts but only the bottom half of the screen is displayed, and then the whole thing locks up. I've tried DRI, assuming I've installed it correctly, it doesn't work either. I'll take any suggestions here. I'd even be happy with "it doesn't work now but xxx release of xxx software will support it in the future." Any information will help. Thanks! Share this post Link to post
Theophile 0 Posted February 17, 2003 I've just discovered that the Radeon Mobility U1 chip is one and the same as the Radeon IGP 320M chip. So this may help in identifying the exact hardware in question. Any news on this front? Thanks! Share this post Link to post
GhostSong 0 Posted February 20, 2003 My presario 2800 with ati radeon mobility 64mb works like a charm in suse 8.1 pro , no more fucked up fonts , interlaced like mode n' blurred vision *Chooose your ati in SAX2 , any monitor vim /.../XF86Config and add the line crt screen within the ATI section ***With 3D enabled Quake3 dvd etc are flying , hell mode like.Smoothly Share this post Link to post
Theophile 0 Posted February 21, 2003 The Presario 2800 series uses Radeon Mobility M7 chips, which work fine in XFree86. The 2100 series uses the Radeon Mobility U1 (aka. Radeon IGP 320M) chips, which are completely unsupported. I have sent an email to ATI's developer relations address: devrel@ati.com I am urging all readers of this post to PLEASE email ATI and ask them to either: 1. Release the technical specs to third-party developers sich as XI Graphics, DRI, or the XFree86 project or 2. Develop their own proprietary drivers as nVidia has done. If there is enough POLITE outcry, there may be some results. Please, if you have 60 seconds, fire them off a courteous email and then post a reply. Thank you all for your help! Theophile 0 Posted March 3, 2003 Just to let everyone know, there is an ATI developer working with the XFree86 team to write an accelerated driver for the U1/3*0M chips. So far, it's working pretty well. They still need to fix some bugs in the 2D acceleration and then begin work taking advantage of the 3D acceleration. But it is promising! ndering 0 Posted June 22, 2003 do you know if this driver is publicly available yet? AFAIK it isn't because i cant find it anywhere Share this post Link to post

Admiral LSD 0 Posted July 16, 2003 Are the mobility chips supported in the Sheider Digital fglrx drivers? These work like a charm (after I patched the kernel to allow proper AGPGART support on my nForce2 chipset) for my 9500 Pro. Share this post Link to post
yarayara 0 Posted February 23, 2005 Hi, I just installed FC3 in my laptop http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/product_page.jsp?z=78&PRODUCT_ID=15134 For graphics, it uses this: manufacturer : ATI type : ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON™ memory amount : unshared 16 MB memory type : DDR Video RAM graphics accelerator : 64 bit bus clock speed : 166 MHz 2D graphics accelerator : Yes 3D graphics accelerator : Yes open GL support : Yes direct 3D support : Yes motion compensation : Yes integrated TV encoder : Yes reduce TV out flicker : Yes multiple display support : Yes triangle setup : Yes connected bus : AGP bus and my problem is I cant make it work to 1024*768 I havent found any driver.
