v3c7r0n 0 Posted June 5, 2005 Setting up win2k3 server (datacenter edition) on a laptop I have to host a wireless network. I will also be installing it on my desktop as soon as I get a few things working. Right now, I have active directory running, and my laptop is configured to be a domain controller. here is what my network layout looks like (forgive the ascii art) <internet / cable modem> | | <desktop pc> | | <- crossover cable | <laptop server> | | | <wireless clients> My desktop has dual nic's in it and is currently running XP pro and I am using ICS to get internet to my laptop over a crossover cable, and that works just fine. Here is what I cant figure out how to do (I'm a total n00b when it comes to server, just now trying to learn it): Access network shares on my desktop through wireless clients Get DHCP to work for the wireless clients (probably a setting somewhere in active directory...which one is beyond me) Force wireless clients to log into the domain share the internet with my wireless clients I've been reading through the server 2k3 help and I just love how they're like "you can do this with this service" and yet I cant find HOW to do "this" with "this service" or how to configure said service, etc. Any help would be greatly apprechiated. kasandoro 0 Posted June 6, 2005 Sounds like you're trying to use your laptop as a wireless access point for the rest of your wireless clients, correct? If that's the case, then consider setting the wireless card up as an Ad-Hoc network adapter. You can find it in the advanced options for the card (usually under device manager). From there, it's pretty self-explanatory. Share this post Link to post
