JBoDEAN 0 Posted February 24, 2000 What is the Boottime defrag feature? I heard it isn't worth running, and curious if anyone in here runs it, and recommends running it ------------------ BoDEAN http://www.sammyhagar.net Share this post Link to post
YuppieScum 0 Posted February 24, 2000 Well, you could just read the docs that come with the tool, or check up on their web-site... The boot-time defrag defrags files that are ootherwise unavialable, like the Master File Table, and the page file. Yes, it does make a difference. Share this post Link to post
jonny 0 Posted February 24, 2000 I use it. I think its really good. Although I recommend doing it after you have defragged already. In other words dont do it when its heavily fragmented. Directory's in win2k cant be defragged while running thats the purpose of the boottime defrag. I think its good to do it every now and then. My system seems to run really good after it. Plus sometimes if your directory's arent defragged you cannot fully defrag your drive. Share this post Link to post
JBoDEAN 0 Posted February 24, 2000 I try setting it, says insufficient continuous free space. Weird, got 2000 megs free ------------------ BoDEAN http://www.sammyhagar.net Share this post Link to post
jonny 0 Posted February 24, 2000 Im not sure but it might be that you need a certain percentage of free drive space. Like 15% or something. So if you have like a 30 gig drive 2 gigs wont be enough. Share this post Link to post
