jmmijo 1 Posted June 25, 2005 I would then recommend you get the following suite of anti-spyware tools/apps: Microsoft Anti-Spyware BETA (Free for the moment) Spybot Search & Destroy (Free) AdAware v1.06 PE (Free) Install and run them all at the same time, I do and they work with each other quite nicely. It may also be a good idea to run the latest anti-virus app/tool as well, my preference here is NAV 2004 but there are also plenty of very good free apps here as well... Share this post Link to post

rietra 0 Posted July 3, 2005 I have the same problem: http://www.oneclicksearches.com/ has taken over my Explorer. I am fairly illiterate and do not understand what to do with Hijackthis. (I mean the advice given by Wilhelmus: .......Boot your system into safe mode and fix these with hijackthis: " C:\WINDOWS\System32\msole32.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 O2 - BHO: VMHomepage Class - {FFFFFFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFA} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpE3E7.tmp O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PSGuard] C:\Program Files\PSGuard\PSGuard.exe O20 - Winlogon Notify: style2 - C:\WINDOWS\q1743887_disk.dll " ...............) Could someone maybe explain this in somewhat more detail? I have tried to download Microsoft Anti-Spyware BETA (Free for the moment), as advised by jmmijo but this http://www.oneclicksearches.com/ thing blocks the download! I am at a loss here! I would really appreciate some help ..... Thank you. Joseph Share this post Link to post

Wilhelmus 1 Posted July 4, 2005 1) Download adaware, spybot search & destroy and update those. 2) Here is how to start your computer in safe mode: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsg...c_nam#_Section3 You can use either System Configuration Utility or the F8 function key to start into safe mode. 3) Now when you are in safe mode (You'll know when), rescan with hijackthis. 4) From the list, check these (if in the list): Quote: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shnlog.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\msole32.exe C:\WINDOWS\popuper.exe C:\PROGRA~1\T-Media\MMHotKey.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\intmonp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\intmon.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/bar.html R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://www.oneclicksearches.com/search.php?qq=%1 F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe, msmsgs.exe O2 - BHO: VMHomepage Class - {FFFFFFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp1F99.tmp O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KE9801] C:\PROGRA~1\T-Media\MMHotKey.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [49D51989] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucvek.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RegSvr32] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msmsgs.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [intel system tool] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe 5) Then click fix button. 6) Scan your computer with adaware and spybot s&d. 7) If you used the System Configuration Utility to get into safe mode, see the webpage howto get into normal mode. rietra 0 Posted July 4, 2005 Thank you very much for your quick help. I have started the computer in safe modeI have carried out all these steps. The list of filenames that you mentioned: " C:\WINDOWS\system32\shnlog.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\msole32.exe C:\WINDOWS\popuper.exe C:\PROGRA~1\T-Media\MMHotKey.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\intmonp.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\intmon.exe did not show up in HiJackThis as items to be ticked, so I searched them "manually" with my Explorer and deleted these files manually in Safe Mode. From a previous bad experience with a Portal Hi-Jack I found a program called Hitman Pro which runs many sweeping programs one after the other. I have now re-started my computer. The only thing that remains is that some thing has taken over my desktop background screen. So I have deleted a file called: screen.htm as well. I will now send this log to you and then send an updated HJT log to you fro my other computer. (I am using my wife's portable at this very moment!) Talk to you later and many thanks already for all your help. When I execute: notepad c:\windows\system.ini the following appears: ; for 16-bit app support [drivers] wave=mmdrv.dll timer=timer.drv [mci] [driver32] [386enh] woafont=app850.FON EGA80WOA.FON=EGA80850.FON EGA40WOA.FON=EGA40850.FON CGA80WOA.FON=CGA80850.FON CGA40WOA.FON=CGA40850.FON [network] Bios=1438668016 Should I now add: ;Shell=explorer.exe, msmsgs.exe to the end of the notepad file? Should I send this to you as well? Initially this search turned up many directories with "Loans", "[censored]", "[censored]","Pharmacy", etc. Also the "Anti-VirusGold" directory showed up again. I deleted whatever I recognised as rubbish. The Word file contains everything that is left for these two days. Cheers,] Jos Share this post Link to post
