peterro 0 Posted February 9, 2000 I just got an ASUS V6800 Pure GeForce256, and it seemes to work fine both under Win98SE and Win2000 (Full) Problem is that i have an AMD 500MHz and a FIC SD11 mainboard. The system doctor under Win98 complains about the AGP voltage sometimes is OK, but sometimes has trouble providing enough power, and says that the system might be unstable. From the little I have had time to test it, it seems to work fine (with an incredible speed, I might add). The thing that I wonder about though i this: will the system just be unstable if the card doesn't get enough power, or could this cause serious damage to my system? I looked at both the FIC and the ASUS homepage, but it doesn't say anything about this. Does anybody know? My full spec is: AMD Athlon 500MHz FIC SD11 mainboard 128MB SDRAM IBM 20,5 GB ULTRA ATA/66 ASUS V6800 Pure Enlight 300W powersupply Sony DDU220 DVD-ROM Hope someone can give me a reply quickly!!! ------------------ Share this post Link to post
Exorcist 0 Posted February 9, 2000 The Athlon needs a specific power supply capable of providing over 230-250 watts I think, is it an Athlon approved PSU? Ewps - so I was half-asleep and not noticed the sig - I presume Enlights are Athlon approved cos I have one of those myself Soz - can't think of anything else. peterro 0 Posted February 9, 2000 It is approved by Athlon. I know how bad things can get if u have problems with the PSU, so I bought a good one. I just wanna know i any of my HW can get damaged by this, 'cause if not, I will run it without any overcloking or other to keep it running, wait a month or two and buy a new motherboard, with higher busclock and stuff. ------------------ Share this post Link to post
Cloud-X 0 Posted February 25, 2000 I had lots of trouble with win2k and the SD-11, i had 5 devices on 1 irq, which was # 9, my computer crased every 5 minutes with the nvidia beta drivers installed on my CL TNT2 Ultra. i have an enlight 250 watt power supply, athlon ok. Share this post Link to post
