ananiasp 0 Posted August 6, 2005 hi... i have the game Magic the gathering: Duels of the Planeswalker... and it works just fine... but i'm getting a bit tired of it because i don't have new cards (5th edition only)... is there ANY way of upgrading the game or up[censored] it with new cards?! if so, where can i get that patch?! if not, does anyone know if there is any way of playing magic the gathering in a singleplayer game (not online- i found several games, but they were "online only" games...) with more recent cards!? i want to play magic with recent cards!!!!! please!!! thisguyukno 0 Posted August 9, 2005 Oh my Goodness! How do you have Duels of the Planeswalker working fine? I have it and Window XP, and I'm hoping/wondering if maybe you have the same specifications but maybe know some ancient chinese secret I am completely unaware of. Please reply if you have any answers. Thanks. Share this post Link to post

DarkPhoenix33952 0 Posted August 25, 2005 Hey all, been trying these past few days to get Magic:SotA running and found out a few tips that worked for me, thought I would be helpful and pass it along, seeing as this page helped me out so much. Ok, the Home of the Underdogs download for me worked beautifully, and had the Manalink patch on there as well (seperate download but easy to find, just adhere to their one download at a time rule) Installed both, needed no further updates, ran it, text was all screwed up on main page, and no card text. For me, kept compatibility mode off. Got looking around in some of the files, and found out some of the fonts were not showing up. In the main directory, there are about six or seven TrueType font files, only one or two displayed when I double clicked them, the others came up blank. Thought to myself, "Well why can't I just use a different font?" since I can't change the programming to tell it to use a different one, I fooled it. For me, I downloaded a standard TT font, just something simple, renamed all the old font files with an added 2 on it, then put as many copies of the downloaded TT font as I needed in the folder, then named them as the old files were. Presto, main menu fixed, and all cards have text. Not sure if this helps Shandalar, have not tried it yet, but figured with as many people out there who been having trouble with this, progress is progress, no matter how small. Only, I now have a question, in my wandering through the files, I have card listings and description for the gold Legends cards (Dakkon BlackBlade, etc.) but they do not show up in my deck builder. I miss having some of these awesome monsters in my deck and would like to know how I am to unlock them. Thanks all for your help and maybe one day we can all finally get this to work flawlessly on XP. Share this post Link to post
