TIPTO12 0 Posted August 12, 2005 Ok.. I've never been able to access this website. It's www.owcc.cc.fl.us This is the website for my college and I need to be able to access it to complete requirements to start school. I lived in Louisiana and on the same computer could never access the site, but on my parent's computer, there was no problem. We were networked with a router in our house. I just moved to Florida and now I'm using a totally different ISP, but same computer, and still can't access it. I'm assuming it has something to do with my computer in particular. Here is a screen shot of the page that comes up. I couldn't get the image to work. It just says at the bottom that it's either a webserver problem or a DNS error. If it would help to see the image I can send it via AIM or email... Is there anything I can change that will allow me to access the site? My parents used IE and I've tried it using the IE and Maxthon browsers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need this site to access library info for classes throughout the school year. Thanks for any help. Share this post Link to post
peterh 1 Posted August 16, 2005 Try adding the site to your Trusted sites in IE/Tools/Internet Options/Security/Trusted Sites to ensure full access. Share this post Link to post
TIPTO12 0 Posted August 17, 2005 still doesn't work.. I have no idea what it could be. Share this post Link to post
Cormac 0 Posted August 17, 2005 Could the problem be that you have cookies blocked and your college uses them. In IE go to tools/internet options/Privacy and in there change your cookie settings and see if that works. I have mine set at medium high and had no trouble accessing your colleges home page. Good Luck Share this post Link to post
jmmijo 1 Posted August 17, 2005 I just connected without any problems either and I have a high security setting, however, I use an alternative browser named Maxthon. Also, have you added a custom hosts file to your machine ?!? Does it have only a single entry for the local host or is it pretty large like what a custom hosts files usually are ?!? Shakedown 0 Posted August 18, 2005 OK. We all now know that it is not a problem with the site. Have you tried flushing your DNS? ************************************************* USAGE: ipconfig [/? | /all | /renew [adapter] | /release [adapter] | /flushdns | /displaydns | /registerdns | /showclassid adapter | /setclassid adapter [classid] ] where adapter Connection name (wildcard characters * and ? allowed, see examples) Options: /? Display this help message /all Display full configuration information. /release Release the IP address for the specified adapter. /renew Renew the IP address for the specified adapter. /flushdns Purges the DNS Resolver cache. /registerdns Refreshes all DHCP leases and re-registers DNS names /displaydns Display the contents of the DNS Resolver Cache. /showclassid Displays all the dhcp class IDs allowed for adapter. /setclassid Modifies the dhcp class id. The default is to display only the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway for each adapter bound to TCP/IP. For Release and Renew, if no adapter name is specified, then the IP address leases for all adapters bound to TCP/IP will be released or renewed. For Setclassid, if no ClassId is specified, then the ClassId is removed. Examples: > ipconfig ... Show information. > ipconfig /all ... Show detailed information > ipconfig /renew ... renew all adapters > ipconfig /renew EL* ... renew any connection that has its name starting with EL > ipconfig /release *Con* ... release all matching connections, eg. "Local Area Connection 1" or "Local Area Connection 2" ************************************************* From a command prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns". Not saying it will work, but at least your PC will have to go out and resolve the name again. Any other sites not working? Shakedown Share this post Link to post
