Winxp & Descent 2

Hi all

 

I am trying to install Descent 2 on my Winxp system and i keep getting an error (C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for runing MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Chose Close to terminate the application.) when i try runing the install or the setup from the CDROM. Is there a way i could manually install it?.

1) Copy autoexec.nt and config.nt files from c:\windows\repair folder to c:\windows\system32 folder.

2) Update your antimalware programs.

3) Scan for malware.

What type of Descent 2 are you trying to run? It sounds like you want to run the dos version, but there are several of those. There were three to my knowledge: Software Rendered DOS, Glide, and S3 Virge. If you just want to play the game I suggest running the DirectX version, but if you need to have it work with your 3D card, you'll also run into another problem, your sound card, which you will also need to get working with it. The Win9X/DirectX version is definetly your best bet.

Thanks guys i did what u said and copyed my auto and config from repair and it installed first time. just wish my skills where as good as i thought they where .
