JBSavage2 0 Posted August 17, 2005 PLEASE HELP! I'm trying to network an old computer to my new one. New machine is running XP and is connected to the internet through a router attached to a DSL modem. It works great- no problem. I just reformatted the old computer and installed Win 2k Pro - but when I attach it to the router, it won't connect to the internet or home network. The cable and router are all fine - when I attach the same line into another computer it works, no problem. This win2k computer, though, is not pulling an IP from DHCP- instead getting a 169.254.x.x address. Please help I should add that the router works fine for a wireless connection I have, too. jmmijo 1 Posted August 17, 2005 Have you tried d/l the latest OEM drivers for the NIC on that machine and installing them ?!? You have another box that can connect so d/l them on that machine and burn them to a CD or something to use on the older box. It's possible that the bundled Win 2K drivers are not working properly with that older machines NIC Share this post Link to post
