gravyfish 0 Posted August 21, 2005 Okay, I know there are a lot of threads about getting Red Alert to run on XP and 2000, but I've tried everything and it still doesn't work. I fixed the compatibility on Autorun.exe for Windows 95, installed the game with no problems, then fixed the compatibility on Red Alert Windows 95 version for Windows 95, and then tried to run the game. All I got was "the procedure entry point SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" I installed the Red Alert v1.08 patch, but I still get the error. I run Windows 2000, and most of the fixes are for Windows XP, and I wasn't sure if that was the problem or not. I've been all over the internet, and I keep seeing the same compatability fixes or suggestions of installing the patch, but neither of those has worked. Is there anything else I could try? Jon8RFC 0 Posted September 1, 2005 Hey hey. I just installed this today, but wasn't able to get it to run on XP either. On another site, I read that the DOS installer should be used. This is in ..\SETUP\SETUP.EXE Install using that, rather than ..\SETUP95\SETUP.EXE Avoid autorun and just browse your way through. For my computer with a SoundBlaster card, I selected the plain-jane SoundBlaster driver. For my other computer (on-board sound) I also used the generic SoundBlaster driver. The sound test for both was very choppy, but proved to be irrelevant in the end. Install the 1.08 patch, which you know how to do. I didn't try without, but with 95-compatibility everything functioned normally--don't let the sound test or initial loading of the game fool you. Share this post Link to post
lrj 0 Posted September 1, 2005 I've had the Win95 version of Red Alert working normally on Windows XP. You need the v1.08 patch and the C&C Gold XP Patch together, or the v3.03 patch. The first two are in Westwood's FTP site but the 3.03 patch isn't. I think I downloaded it from FilePlanet or cncnz.com gravyfish, you need to install the C&C Gold XP Patch or the v3.03 patch. If RA will run on XP with those patches, i'd have thought it would be possible to do the same on 2000. jon8rfc, install the Win95 version again under Win95 compatibility mode, install the patches and set the game shortcut to run in Win95 compatibility. Doing this should give a working Win95 Red Alert. Share this post Link to post
