Sim2 2 unspecified error

We installed Sims 2 on my new HP Media center XP m1070n using the administrator user profile. It runs fine on that profile. We get an unspecified error message if we try to open or run it on another profile. I've tried moving it to the share documents/ shared games folders, but that didn't work. What should I try next?
