iamroot 0 Posted September 7, 2005 My trusted old AMD Athlon XP 1800++ system recently gave out on me. The processor is still good though, so I'm looking for a new motherboard that is compatible with my processor. Not much luck so far since all AMD processors are 64-bit and my old Athlon is 32-bit. Can anyone recommend me a motherboard that is compatible with my processor? Share this post Link to post
zenarcher 0 Posted September 7, 2005 I've had very good success with the MSI KT-6V motherboard. It works with all of the AMD XP series processors, has 5 PCI slots, AGP 8X slot, two SATA drive connectors and has been very reliable. In fact, I use two of them here on my network and have used the same motherboard in many customer systems. It's been very reliable. zenarcher Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted September 7, 2005 I have two very reliable boards, the Asus A7n8x-E Deluxe and the Soyo Dragon Platinum Plus. Both support AMD Athlon XP processors very well. Make sure that you know what type of processsor that you have and that it is supported, either the Thoroughbred or Palomino, or if both are supported. They can be had at a number of vendors, such as Tigerdirect. You should have no trouble finding a motherboard to meet your needs. Share this post Link to post
