sibrecat 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Hi i recently had a hard drive crash and had to replace it & reinstall xp. The problem is i had some music stored on another hard drive, i can see the files using explorer but when i try to run them i get this error message off media player Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct. which when more information is clicked on it gives me C00D11D2: Cannot access the file Windows Media Player cannot access the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons: etc any help would be greatly appreciated as i seem to have lost a lot of music Share this post Link to post
Sampson 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Sometimes this happens if the archive bit of the file has been changed. Actually, Windows Explorer does not see the file, it only reads the "index" of the file. The actual file might be damaged. Share this post Link to post
lrj 0 Posted September 9, 2005 Is the drive formatted as NTFS or FAT32? If the drive is FAT32 then I wouldn't get your hopes up. If it is formatted as NTFS, then it may be a permissions issue. Are you using XP Home or XP Pro? You can change the permissions in Pro straightaway (as long as Simple File Sharing is disabled), whereas you must change to Safe Mode to do the same in XP Home. yutao 0 Posted October 3, 2005 I suggest you use DataRecoveryWizard to resolve your problem. The software provides very useful functions for data recovery: DeleteRecovery, FormatRecovery, AdvancedRecovery, RawRecovery. This program is an efficient disk recovery software providing you a complete answer to data loss. First thing I recommend you download the demo version of DataRecoveryWizard. (http://www.[censored].com/download.htm) Run the program and select the recovery mode "DeletedRecovery", or "FormatRecovery", or "AdvancedRecovery".
