grumpyted 0 Posted October 6, 2005 Had to replace mobo on SBS2003 machine. Trying to replace without having to reinstall the system. Have used an AOpen AK77-400GN with an AthlonXP 2600+. Graphics on GeForce MX400 - on the previous mobo the graphics were onboard Integrated VGA Engine in chipset VIA KM266 (Mobo was AOpem MK77M II) The system halts in safe mode on \windows\apppatch\drvmain.sdb This is a compatability problem, I think. Could it be that I have got to reinstall the system from scratch? or does something scream out that's wrong? Help Share this post Link to post
thatsteveguy 0 Posted October 6, 2005 Others may disagree but I never swap a motherboard and not do a clean re-install after. It will solve alot of headaches in the future and it's the easiest way to ensure a stable system afterwards. S Share this post Link to post

Relic 0 Posted October 7, 2005 I've swapped a mobo twice now, without a clean install. Then I put up with multiple errors/crashes/FUBAR's. Eventually, I just format, start from scratch, and everything wrks fine. New mobo, new install, that's the only right way to do it. Although I've fought it, I know I won't win, losing battle man.
