DoubleEcho 0 Posted October 11, 2005 I recently bought a used copy of Mechwarrior 4 and started playing it over the weekend. I didn't have any problems at all, and changed loadouts in the Mech Lab without a problem. I did some digging and found that there was a patch, so I applied Patch v3.0, shut off my PC and didn't play until last night. When I went into the Mech Lab, I was able to change loadouts on my Mechs. Once I saved the loadout and then went back to the Mission screen (with the launch button and stuff) the music keeps playing, but the mouse will not work at all and the game pretty much locks up. If I ALT+Tab I get a cursor but I can't get out of the program (even with Alt+F4) unless I reboot. I thought this might be something with my mouse, so I tried a different one (tried PS/2 mouse instead of my wireless USB) and it does the same thing. I uninstalled Mechwarrior 4 and reinstalled it without applying the patch, and viola, no problem. I want to be able to play this online, so I'm sure I'll need the patch. Anyone else had this problem, or know of a solution? My specs: AMD 64 Venice 3000+ ASRock 939 Dual SATA2 motherboard Radeon 9800 Pro 1GB Corsair PC 3200 DDR memory Windows XP Pro SP2 Microsoft Sidewinder joystick Share this post Link to post
DoubleEcho 0 Posted October 14, 2005 Bump once again; Anyone have any ideas besides dual booting with XP and 98? Share this post Link to post
Relic 0 Posted October 14, 2005 That shouldn't happen with a legit copy of the game. Is an account required to play online, such as with STEAM? I know I bought a used copy of HL2, then had to get the account name and password from the guy I bought the game off of, otherwise I would have had to jump through hoops, and toss $10 to Valve, to get it registered in my name. If you have a legit copy, get the fix here: http://www.megagames.com/cracks/html/32475_0.htm. ***EDIT*** replace the asterisks with cr-ack-s without the dashes. x) Share this post Link to post

Also, I don't think Microsoft has a contract with Valve. (Microsoft is the publisher of Mechwarrior 4) The problem is when I apply the patches, (any patch for MW4: Vengence, I tried Patch v2.0 and 3.0) and only when going into the Mech Lab, changing something, and then going out, or if I fail a mission and it goes back to the mission screen. The problem isn't when I try to go online, basically because no one plays it on MSN Gaming Zone anymore, they only play MW4: Mercenaries. Because of this, I ordered a copy of MW4 Mercs which is verified to work on XP. Share this post Link to post
