Lands of Lore 3 - Sound issues

Hi

 

I have been playing Lands of Lore 3 on a laptop running Windows XP (SP2), and although the game itself runs okay, I keep gettng sound issues. After installing, when I try to play the game the sound is fine for a few minutes then goes all choppy and distorted.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could solve this problem?

 

Edit:: I just reinstalled the game again and installed the latest patch, the sound is even more choppy and the game itself is running extremely slowly.
