help with diectx 4 game half life 2

ive installed the game which took 4ever! but it needs a internet connection and microsoft® directx 9.0 but when ive stalled it and its inicializing my computer or something it comes up with cabinet file cannot be trusted and i have to have it off a microsoft authorized website

ive searched 4 all the .cab files but i dont know how 2 tell if they have errors or not

Hmmmm, HL2 should have recognized the prob when you tried to install, and yeah, I know, it takes forever. :x

 

Anyhow, if you're having a prob getting DX9 to work, dwnld the developers copy of DX9, then install from your HDD, many times files get pooched in the dwnld/web-install from M$. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...;displaylang=en

 

Now, if you have a legit copy of XP, there will be no probs getting that file. If you don't, and that's the prob in the first place, you're on your own.

Ensure that the Cryptographic Services are enabled and running:

* Right-click on My Computer

* Click on Manage

* Expand Services and Applications

* Click on Services

* Right-click on Cryptographic Services

* Click on Properties

* Set the Startup type to Automatic

* OK and close your way back out.
