Pr.Sinister 0 Posted March 4, 2000 Does anyone here know how to enable the Auto-Insert Notification on a CD-ROM drive in Windows 2000? In Win98, you could change that in the CD-ROM's Property in the Device Manager but there is no such option in Win2k's Device Manager. I tried looking in the registry and couldn't find it, i tried with TweakUI and even Xteq's X-Setup but nothing doing. Thanks. Share this post Link to post
PraetorJudis 0 Posted March 4, 2000 My understanding of the auto-insert feature is that if explorer is open and you put a CD in the drive, the drive spins up and displays the autorun.ico and volume name in explorer. It's the base layer for autorun (turning off auto-insert in 9x kills autorun, but tweakui would allow you to kill just autorun and the auto-insert feature remained active)... Regardless, auto-insert should already be enabled under W2k, unless I am a) completing misunderstanding the question, or am deluded about the meaning of "auto-insert notification." ------------------ *gniltrohc yawa srednaw* Share this post Link to post
nog 0 Posted March 4, 2000 auto-insert notification is generally a good thing to turn off with CDR software. windows will try mount the CD after the first track is burned (not a problem for only data cds, but it is for audio). results in a coaster.. ezcd disables this by default (I believe, ezcd 3.5 did under win98). Ekstreme 0 Posted March 4, 2000 run gpedit.msc from the run dialogue box. goto admin templates for both computer configuration and user configuration. Select sytem, double click Disable Autoplay. Change the option to enable. This has disabled autoplay tunr autoplay on in TweakUI and it refreshes in explore when you put in a new CD, but doesn't run the autorun prog Share this post Link to post
