CLUE 0 Posted January 10, 2006 When I try to install Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (HOMM3), I get this message: The procedure entry point _AIL_sample_volume@4 could not be located in the dynamic link library mss32.dll. Although I did download it off kazaa and tried game copy world, I had it installed before the same way and installed with no problems. I have windows XP professional. Is there any solution to this stupid problem? I can't find any help anywhere, help would be most appreciated! Share this post Link to post
Sampson 0 Posted January 10, 2006 You can try copying the Mss32.dll file from the System folder to the folder where Might and Magic reside. In addition, you may want to rethink using anything off of kazaa - how do you know that the files are not virus contaminated? Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted January 10, 2006 Games are compiled to use specific versions of mss32.dll (Miles Sound System). For instance if the game used ver 1.5a of mss32.dll then you can only get away with using v1.5x of mss32.dll NOT v1.6, v1.6, v1.x whatever. I'll have to check what ver of mss32.dll HOMM3 uses and since you downloaded one of the best games ever instead of actually buying it then I guess I won't be checking. Share this post Link to post
CLUE 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Well seeing as how 3DO went bankrupt, I dont think they'll mind too much, doubt I could even find it up here... I'm gonna buy HOM&M V when it comes out though. As for viruses on kazaa, you're right there was a ton of heroes exe's with a virus cause I scan them with AVG first. It won't let me copy the dll file to the folder though, gives me the same error as above. I had this working before the same way with no problem though about a year ago but didnt have xp then either.
