I just purchased "Mechwarrior 4 Compilation" which contains

Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance.

 

Operation 4, Mission 6, in which you are to liberate a prison camp:

 

The scenario requires you to first link up at Nav point Delta with some friendly units. Right away, I get a bad feeling....as far as I can remember, Nav points always begin with "Alpha".

 

I reach Nav Delta, and the friendly units already there have some dialog about circling around instead of attacking directly, or some such.

 

Following the HUD, I walk to Nav point Delta, and get audible confirmation that I have done so. This is where the problem begins. No new Nav point comes up! It stays frozen on Delta.

 

I took a look for a patch, and found this:

Within the body of this, it says that patch 3 fixes a Nav point disappearance problem.

 

So....is the patch version 3 safe to use with Windows XP Home?

 

What is the safest, most official URL for the patch?

 

I have not consciously done anything to run the game in Compatibility Mode.
