Stuttering with SBLive

Recommended Posts

I'm experiencing a really nagging problem with my SBLive. I've tried virtually everything I could find to attempt to stop it from stuttering. When I boot up, it plays most of the start .wav (thunderbolt), then it continues to stutter in a loop. Occasionally, it'll stop, but anytime another .wav is played it'll stutter again, including in games. At first I had thought it was an IRQ sharing problem, but I've since isolated the card to a single IRQ (5), and the problem persists. Thus far, I have tried the following:

1. Remove & reinstall the card.

2. Move the card to a different PCI slot

3. Updated to the latest bios for my motherboard

4. Installed the new SBLive driver (LW3 for Win2k)

5. Enabled "Do not map through this device"

6. Isolated the card, so its on its own IRQ (IRQ 5)

7. Verified there's no memory or other conflicts.

Here's my current list of stuff:

Win2k -2195 (MPS Multiprocessor PC)

Abit BP6 (Bios set to MPS=1.1, APCI disabled)

Two Celeron 366s @ 550 (or 366 makes no diff. with this problem)

384MB PC133 RAM

STB 4400 TNT1 (Nvidia 3.78 ref drivers)

20GB WD drive (on ata-33 controller)

Asus 50x CD (on ata-33 controller)

Logitech formula force USB wheel

Thanks for any help... *any* help :-)

Dents.
