currie1990 0 Posted March 12, 2006 Hi, Im having some troubles with my computer again and i cant find a way to fix it. When i start the computer up, it goes onto the screen where it gives you the option of starting in safe mode, last known good configuration, normally etc.. and when i try selecting one, it will go on to the windows xp loading screen, and then it will just restart and go through all of that again. When it goes into the windows xp screen, the hard drive sounds as if the head is having difficulty reading a sector. The problems been happening since last Thursday, and i havent been able to solve it yet, is there anything you can suggest? If the only choice is to reformat it, is there any way that i can back the data up that is on my hard drive? Because i havent backed up since the last reformat. Cheers, Sam. fpin 0 Posted March 12, 2006 Hi, before format everything and re-install OS, try to plug the current HDD as slave and back it up. If you can't do that - try to make a repair install. Share this post Link to post
fpin 0 Posted March 13, 2006 well, to make a repair install you need bootable Windows CD, boot from it and it will ask you the way of installing full or repair. Share this post Link to post
