chetan36 0 Posted August 29, 2006 Hey i've just got my motherboard replaced and also got a new AGP card. And i've been having problems with my compu ever since. My config is: 1.8Ghz P4 256kb L2 400FSB My AGP card is: 256mb FX5500 nvidia My motherboard is: MORA P4M266A Ever since a got the mother board i'm having the follwing problems: 1. The system boots normally but midway during operation it freezes(nothing responds) and when i restart it there is no display, the sys does not boot and on repeated tries nothing happens. The CPU fan however runs and the power LED is also always on. Then again sometime later it starts up on its own. 2. Recently the sys boots up normally but it freezes at anytime. 3 or 4 times the sys has frozen in the middle of BIOS setup. I try to change the settings to EGA but in the middle it freezes. gokyabgu 0 Posted August 31, 2006 According to my experiences these types of problems likely to be a RAM issue. What is your RAM's manufacturer, model? Your mainboard can be incompatible with your memory. Check inside the case and look at memories if they are sitting in their slots firmly. Share this post Link to post
Sampson 0 Posted August 31, 2006 It is possible that this is a timing issue between the Ram and the new motherboard, but there are so many things that could cause this given what you said. If you could inform us how the "upgrade" took place and what was done, this would be more helpful than articulating the symptoms of what the computer is now doing. It sounds like you kept all your peripherals and just put in a new motherboard and video card. If you are using XP, the motherboard replacement will cause the OS to go south since it will not be expecting the motherboard it finds. In fact, more often than not, it won't boot at all without a clean install of XP with something as major as a new motherboard, and this is complicated with the fact that your XP product was registered along with your previous hardware which will make you have to call Microsoft and re-register the product. chetan36 0 Posted September 5, 2006 My RAM is a local company Sensible and Memorio, but both are PC2100 DDR266 SDRAM and the motherboard supports DDR266/DDR200. And as for XP, yeah i clean installed it after getting my new motherboard becoz as u said the old version wouldn't boot up.. Share this post Link to post
