ed-j 0 Posted June 14, 2007 I'm not sure if the admin at my Favorite Forum would be into doing this, as at MajorGeeks there appears to be nothing on Linux? This does appear to be a monumental idea and achievement 10+10!! Is the LGPL the same as the GPLv2 and v3? I mean, is it involved with the FSF and the same kind of intentions? All the best! Philipp 6 Posted June 14, 2007 Yes, the LGPL is basically a less restrictive GPL license: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Lesser_General_Public_License Share this post Link to post
ed-j 0 Posted June 14, 2007 Hey Phil! I just had a quick read of the Wiki: Does this mean it would be ok to show excerpts of topics as long as they are not altered. If they are altered, then these alterations also have to comply with LGPL? Does that sound reasonable enough for a Novice? Thanks for the reply! Share this post Link to post
Philipp 6 Posted June 15, 2007 It means you can download the CompatDB compatibility database from the mirror and use it in both open source and commercial projects for free An example how a CompatDB implementation could look like is the compatibility list at http://www.majorgeeks.com/compatibility.html Share this post Link to post
ed-j 0 Posted June 15, 2007 That's great! The link to compatDB was given to me by the admin of www.modfree.org, so I'll do what a Novice does best and see what's happening. Thanks very much for the replies and for compatDB! Share this post Link to post
