peterh 1 Posted September 12, 2007 Windows XP has DirectX 8.1 installed by default. Windows XP Service PAck 2 includes DirectX 9.0c. So, use Windows update to install latest service pack and patches. Next run DXDIAG.exe, click on the Display tab and tell us the following information: Name: Manufacturer: Chip Type: DDI Version: DirectDraw Acceleration: Direct3D Acceleration: AGP Texture Acceleration: Then we will be able to tell you why it is not working. danleff 0 Posted August 17, 2008 This is not my forte, but maybe we can spark some answers. Do you have the latest DirectX installed, as per peterh's suggestion? What about the latest drivers for the video card? If you do not know, look under the System tab of the dxdiag window and see what version is installed. Also, it may be helpful if you post what make and model system that you have. Share this post Link to post

danleff 0 Posted January 30, 2009 Quote: i did that but then the direcetx features box said they were all unavailable What exactly did you do? That information will help folks to assist. Does your computer meet the system requirements for Sims2? Asssuming Windows XP: What video card is in the system and did you update to the latest drivers? Is Service pack 2 installed on the system? Most likely if all the options said that they were not available, then your video card is not adequate, or the drivers to support DirectX are not installed. Is this a laptop or desktop system? I have a different graphics card so I don't have an exact website you need to go to. But it is a driver problem. To fix the problem, I went to the Nvidia website and typed in Sim 2 into the site search. It brought me to a page where it gave me a link to download drivers to fix the problem. Your graphics card website should have a set of drivers that fix this problem. I have been playing Sims 2 all afternoon. No error message....no crashes. Share this post Link to post
