kgeissler 0 Posted January 27, 2008 When my computer goes into standby mode, or comes out of standby mode, my event viewer has these event id's relating to the CD ROM: Event Type: Error Event Source: Cdrom Event Category: None Event ID: 11 Date: 1/27/2008 Time: 10:31:12 AM User: N/A Computer: KEITH Description: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom1. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Any ideas? I get 6 errors for each of the 2 cd rom drives I have. The drives seem to work fine, otherwise. Share this post Link to post
Myke 0 Posted January 28, 2008 I checked the error at eventid.net and got this explaination: Event ID 11 for Cdrom The three cases that were discussed here were (1) faulty cable connection, (2) UDMA settings enabled (which they shouldn't be for a CD-ROM drive), and (3) a problem with the CD. Since you said they drives seem to operate fine, my guess is that (1) is not the issue. You still might want to check the cables anyways, just to rule that out. If you have CDs in the drive when coming out of hibernation, try removing all media from the drives and see if you still get the error. If not, then it might be with the customized CDs. Check the UDMA settings on the drives and ensure that they are turned off. Share this post Link to post
