HP Scanjet - WINDOWS 2000 drivers?

Well - I have a scanjet 3200c and i recently installed windows2000 - and although i can install the scanner (sort of) using the bundled drivers with windows 2000 - this isnt good enough because Hp's scanner software isnt supported on NT never mind win2k

The software needs to be installed to use the scanner and using 3rd party programs such as photoshop/imaging doesnt work

I downloaded Umax's scanner software and tried that - that worked once - but when i rebooted the computer - my computer dumped all physical memory as soon as it booted up - as the software loads up on boot- and it basically wasnt compatible with the Hp3200c (

Have you any ideas how i can get past this problem?

And if not i want to dual boot windows2000 and win98 although i know i shouldnt need to - but i cant do without a scanner for very much longer -

Can i just either partion my hard-drive or use my other hard-drive- but can i install win98 from windows2000 and will that work without screwing up win2K?

Yeah, a lot of people are having problems with scanners (myself included). In fact, the reason why I installed Win98 in a dual boot was that my scanner didnt work in win2K.

 

You cannot install Win98 from Win2k. The Win98 setup program gives you some kind of error message. I just booted with a win98 bootdisk, ran the win98 install from dos, and it automatically set up a dual boot. So, in my case at least, it was very easy (apart from the fact that I had to use the boot disk). I had Win2k on my primary partition (c and I installed Win98 on d: .

Knowing HP they will most likely charge you to use their Win2K compliant software/drivers. I was a bit irked to find out they want almost 30 bucks for the Win2K software using their HP 8100i drivers. Even the newer 9100 doesn't have Win2K drivers and they want 10 bucks.

8100i? Do you mean the CD-RW drive? If so, why would you pay for any win2k drivers when Win2k has support for it already. DirectCD 2.5 works great (albeit without hibernation etc.) If you're talking about burner software like WinOnCD, EasyCD Creator, etc. , then I think it's more understandable. Just a thought.
