news 28 Posted May 6, 2008 Hello fellow editors! Tech ARP ( http://www.techarp.com/ <http://www.techarp.com/>'>http://www.techarp.com/> ) has just posted the Western Digital 320 GB Scorpio Notebook Hard Drive Review. Quote - Many of us have probably wondered why Western Digital never came out with a 7200 RPM notebook hard drive. Well, they didn't need to. Their Scorpio family of 2.5" hard drives may run at "only" 5400 RPM but they are actually fast enough to rival desktop hard drives running at 7200 RPM! Unbelievable? Here's a quote from the review :- "Although Western Digital did not reveal it, the Scorpio is certainly making use of perpendicular recording technology to achieve its performance levels. Of course, there's only so much they can do with perpendicular recording technology. It is likely that the Scorpio also uses four platters to attain its remarkable storage capacity of 320 GB."
