SigmaDesigns RealMagic HollywoodPlus and Hibernate Support o

Recommended Posts

Hello.

Does anybody have the following problem, after the installation of RealMagic Hollywood Plus? The Hibernate support on Windows 2000Professional disappears. Do you know why? And how can it be enabled and in the same time the DVD Decoder can work as well?

Any tip and hint how these two can work together?

Thanx,

George

I have the same card, and my hiberbate support is still there. Although when I plug my USB webcam, my hiber disappears. Strange.....

I have the H+ and no hibernate support but I'm not sure if that is what is causing it. Is there a good way to troubleshoot the power management functions? I have ACPI HAL but no APM or Hibernate functions appear.

I have lied. I don't have the RealMagic Hollywood Plus, but I have the VideoLogic DVD Player instead, which is also using exactly the same drivers (it has even the same Decoder chipsets from SigmaDesigns). But the strange think is that when I disable (From Device Manager - Show Hidden Devices) the following Non-Plug and Play Drivers:
- DVD helper
- MPEG Port
- Video Filter
and from the "Sound, video and game controlers" my VideoLogic DVD Player card (users with Realmagic should have there the "RealMagic Hollywood Plus" entry)
Then the hibernate support is working fine.
My System configuration:
MotherBoard: Epox EP-MVP3G5 (VIA MVP3 AGPSet)
CPU: AMD K6-III 400MHz
Display Controler: 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 AGP
RAM: 256MB SDRAM
Ethernet Adapter: 3Com EL595 Fast Etherlink 10/100 Bus Master PCI Adapter
Sound Card: SoundBlaster Live! Value
DVD: Hitachi GD-2500

ACPI is enabled in the BIOS. Also I have updated with the latest BIOS update (Award 4.51PG)

I think that the Drivers from Sigma Designs are still VERY BETA and not Digitally Signed by Microsoft, though they should release more stable drivers as soon as possible!

The only way to have hibernate support AND DVD Player is to create 2 Hardware profiles: One with hibernate support and no DVD Playback and another with DVD Playback and No Hibernate support (not even the StandBy feaure works in this case)

Finally, I think that all users who have problems with hibernate and have their ACPI BIOS function enabled, should check which is the device that is preventing Hibernate from working properly (or not appearing at all) in the Device Manager ->View->Show Hidden Devices and check the "Non Plug and Play Drivers". There is the solution...

I have A Dxr3 card with the Hollywood drivers

loaded and I also have lost Hibernate, as well in my "hidden" resources the same non-plug and play devices are not functioning.

Sigma have confirmed that the beta drivers disable Hibernate and Standby, they're releasing official drivers within the next couple of weeks which should sort this out.

Hope that helps.
