Direct CD 3.01 Update

Recommended Posts

Crap - I am really sick of this! I installed 3.01 and I might as well have been running 2.5d. I like being able to use hibernate and standby but upon installing 3.01 and trying to put the computer into either power saving mode, I am notified that the driver or application associated with my burner (i.e. dcd 3.01) is keeping Windows from entering standby or hibernation mode! Has anyone else gotten this to work without it hosing hibernation and standby? Thanks :-).

Hey shrink, I have had EZCD 4.02 installed. I downloaded the patch for DCD3.01. I ran the install. It asked me for my CD. I gave it the CD and everything went well. When I rebooted I got the red circle over the icon. It thinks it doesn't support my plextor px-w12432. I have successfully hibernated. I will now attempt to get it to reconize my writer. I have an Asus P3B-F. If the patch doesn't work, you won't hear from me for a bit. We'll see if it hoses my hibernate.

Thanks J_Pro - I am going to clean out ALL my adaptec stuff and try from scratch. Would you do me a BIG favour and email me your setup.inf from the CD. I have the files from the cd copied to my hd and, ahem, don't happen to have the cd handy :-) I don't want to have to install DirectCD 2.5d to get 3.01 to install. Thanks :-)

Hang on. I never got my writer to come back using the 2.02 recorder patch or the 4.02 upgrade. The drive was not even accessible to windows2000. It had a yellow ! in hardware manager. I could only get it to return by uninstalling DCD3.01. Now it's back. I got 2.5 to install and recognize the recorder before. ????????? why????

After I create a current backup of my machine, I will try to put on DCD3.01 and then upgrade it with the Japanese DCD3.01b.

I got this baby to work. I installed EZ CD creator 4.02 without directCD. Then I installed the DCD3.01 update which prompted me for the adaptec CD. Immedately after that without rebooting, I installed update.exe from the extracted DCD3.01b download from Japan that was posted under the official DCD thread. Now my EZCD was upgraded to ver 4.02b and My DCD is ver 3.01b.

So is hibernation and standby working? I restored my Win98 install - perhaps prematurely <g>.

Jason - it worked! I installed 2.5 then 3.01, then 3.01b from the Japanese site and standby and hibernation works! This raises the question: why did adaptec release this patch which hoses acpi functions when it requires another patch from a site across the world to make it work properly?

Thanks again!
