That what I did. 2x13.6 gig Diamond Max drives 7200rpm and I get like 55MB a sec Max 35MB average transfer. I run an Athlon 650 on a MSI K7Pro with 256MB pc133 Crucial ram. This ***** rocks. jdulmage 0 Posted March 28, 2000 get a K7, cause they are 100 % compatible with windows 2k. Share this post Link to post
Jabba 0 Posted March 28, 2000 I'm sure they are jduImage... nothing is 100% compatible with anything. You should know that after working with computers since 1992 Share this post Link to post
Greggy 0 Posted March 28, 2000 I have to agree with SHS... Save money on the K7 & new motherboard and instead buy a Coppermine 600E (or faster!) CPU and then sell the Celeron 300A. Since you seem comfortable with overclocking, your BH6 should get you to 112FSB which will give you a healthy speed boost. The Intel 440BX chipset is still a VERY capable chipset, and at higher than standard bus speeds it is hard to beat. Greggy CuMine 550E @ 733MHz (default voltage), Soltek converter card, Abit BF6, 256Mb SDRAM, CL GeForce 256 SDR, MX300, 13Gb WD 7200rpm IDE hard disk, Intel 10/100 PRO+ NIC, Windows 2000 Pro Share this post Link to post

Thend 0 Posted March 30, 2000 GET ONE NOW! I just bought an AMD K-7 700mhz, and a Microstar mobo (awesome mobo) 6pci slots + pc133, ata 66, yada yada... I run all the programs you do, I have Win 2k, and a Voodoo3 2000. I also run Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Pagemaker, Quark, 3D Studio Max, and a host of other Design/3D software. I also run Everquest (works great), Quake 3, Unreal Tourney, Swat3, Asheron's Call, etc. No probs. As far as price goes the 700mhz is really the sweet spot. I went to a computer show and purchased the mobo for $140 and the CPU +3fans for $279. Plus a 128 stick of PC 133 ram for $109. Can't beat that upgrade. The 750mhz is $100 dollars more, (not worth it) so my advice is FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO IT!!! Just my 2 cents.... Thend Share this post Link to post
