Hi everyone,

 

When NVIDIA launched their GeForce 9800 GTX graphics board a little while back, it's fair to say that there wasn't much excitement surrounding it - Understandable, given the very modest clock speed increases it sported over the already available GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB. However, today we take a look at a GeForce 98000 GTX part which has the potential to be more worthy of the name, courtesy of ASUS' EN9800GTX TOP, which takes the SKU's specification and gives it some more hefty clock speed increases. Is this enough to make it a graphics card worthy of consideration?

"As is befitting of its 'TOP' status, ASUS' EN9800GTX TOP features some pretty significant clock speed bumps over a reference GeForce 9800 GTX. On the GPU core side of things, we get an 80MHz increase, with the chip's Stream Processors getting a bigger boost as the board's shader core is upped to 1840MHz, a 152MHz gain. Elsewhere, on the memory front, the 512MB of RAM on this board gets a 75MHz increase, giving us a final clock of 1175MHz."
