mike3411 0 Posted April 4, 2000 I just installed a new Hard Drive, Western Digital's WDE18310-0042 (18gb 10k RPM UW-SCSI2 LVD) and although my SCSI controller card (AHA-2940U2W) detects it fine, and I can do a low-level format, when I get into windows and go to the disk manager the drive has the "do not enter" symbol on it, and all I can do is try to write a signature, which fails. It's the only device on the SCSI2 jack, my other HD is on the regular SCSI one, I also have a 68-80 pin adapter between the controller card and the non-working drive, it has termination enabled. I contacted WD and they said since the controller detects it fine then it's not a hardware problem, but rather a software problem, and that I needed to contact MS support (lol). ANY help would be appreciated... I'm at my wit's end. -Mike Share this post Link to post
